Bezold effect

    Bezold Effect

    Project Brief:

This activity explores the relativity of color perception and the significance of visual context in the perception of color. The essential concept is that the surrounding colors affect our perception of a given color. Students are provided an Illustrator file with a simple composition and create two sets based on value, hue and saturation.

    Learning Objectives:

    1. Discover optical interaction, otherwise known as the Bezold effect, by modifiying the value, hue and saturation of color.

    Deliverables:

    1. One Illustrator file containing three sets of Bezold effects based on value, hue and saturation. The focal point of each set (chevron vs. circle) is altered by modifying one color.
